How long does it take to set up?

Minutes. Power the unit, give it a clear view of the sky, and connect over Wi-Fi. There is no installation appointment and no dish alignment to arrange, which is what makes it practical for a short rental.

Do I need my own Starlink subscription?

No. The unit comes ready to use for the rental period. You book the dates you need and hand it back afterwards.

Can I use it far from where the terminal is placed?

Yes. The terminal needs open sky, which is often not where you are working. We rent Starlink Gen 3 ethernet cables in 15 m and 45 m lengths so you can put the unit where it has a clear view and run a line back to the set.

Will it work in bad weather?

It is designed for outdoor use in all weather conditions, which is why it suits location work. Heavy cloud and rain can affect any satellite link, so for a critical live broadcast it is worth having a backup connection.

What is it usually rented for?

Outdoor film productions, live streaming from sites without fixed internet, location podcasts, and shoots where large files need to be uploaded before the crew travels back.
